Several One UI 8 leaks have made it clear that development of the next major Samsung firmware update is well and truly underway. Reports indicate that Samsung intends to launch One UI 8 to the public in the second half of this year, possibly after its new foldables hit the market.
This means that there should soon be a One UI 8 beta program, as there always is for a new One UI version. We can exclusively confirm that the One UI 8 beta program will begin later this month.
One UI 8 beta won't be widely available initially
We hear that Samsung will initiate the One UI 8 beta program in the third week of May. It's likely that the beta program may not be as widely available as previous programs have been. The One UI 8 beta might only be for select devices in limited markets. A wider roll out is expected by June.
The first One UI 8 beta build has already been found, so things are definitely moving in the direction of the program launching sooner rather than later. Earlier One UI 8 builds have already been floating around, and we've already tested One UI 8 extensively, finding everything that's new in the next major firmware update.
One UI 8 is primarily going to refine a lot of features on eligible devices. It may not bring much in the way of major new features like its predecessor did, but that's to be expected. What it does bring is Android 16, the latest version of Google's operating system, thereby ensuring that Samsung's Galaxy devices are timely updated to Android 16.
