After months of rumors, the Exynos 2500 debut is finally confirmed. It’s not coming to the Galaxy S25 as previously rumored, but it will show up in a different flagship: the Galaxy Z Flip 7. If you’ve been following the Samsung vs. Qualcomm chip saga, you’ll know this is a major shift.
The Exynos 2500 is Samsung’s first smartphone processor built on a 3nm process. While everyone thought the Galaxy S25 would launch this new chip, Samsung threw a curveball by sticking with Snapdragon for all S25 models. Since then, rumors about Exynos 2500’s fate have been all over the place. Now, sources from SamMobile confirm it will power the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in most countries, including India and South Korea.
This is the first time an Exynos chip has been included in a Galaxy Z series device. The processor (model S5E9955) succeeds last year’s Exynos 2400, and it was designed by Samsung’s System LSI team using their second-gen 3nm node. On paper, that’s a big step up in efficiency and performance.
So, why choose Exynos 2500 for the Z Flip 7? Simple: heat management. The Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Galaxy S25 Edge reportedly runs hot in ultra-thin phones. Samsung’s 3nm Exynos chip should run cooler, making it better suited for foldables where space and heat dissipation are a problem.
How will this play out in the real world? We’ll need to see reviews and thermal tests, especially with demanding apps and camera use. If Samsung gets this right, it could set a new bar for thin, foldable flagships and help the Z Flip 7 challenge rivals like OPPO’s Find N5.
