A while back, we learned that Flappy Bird—yes, that Flappy Bird—was set to make a comeback for mobile devices, although with some considerable changes. These included a new trademark owner (creator Don Nguyen was reportedly NOT involved) as well as the inclusion of crypto wallets and blockchains, a lot of which seemed sketchy.

With that said though, it looks like things have changed for the better with the game’s re-release. The game will now be available under Flappy Bird Publishing and will be available for Android devices via the Epic Games Store, and ditches the crypto and Web3 elements that were previously “teased” for the game. There is monetization by way of ads and IAPs which frankly sound less threatening.
There are plans for expanded content for the game, with upcoming worlds, characters, and themes which will be launched throughout the year. Nguyen is still not a part of this second take on the game’s re-release, however.
