According to multiple reports, Apple is going to launch the first iPhone with a foldable display and a book-style form factor next year, almost seven years after Samsung dropped the first such device. Now, a popular tipster from China claims that the Cupertino-based tech giant is copying a feature from the South Korean tech giant’s Galaxy Z Fold series for its first-generation foldable phone.
Digital Chat Station has shed some light on the displays of the first foldable iPhone. According to the tipster, it will have a 5.49-inch outer display with 2,088 x 1,422 pixels resolution and a punch-hole and a 7.76-inch foldable inner display with 2,713 x 1,920 pixels resolution. What’s interesting is that this screen will have an under-display camera, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold devices.
Samsung introduced the under-display camera on Galaxy smartphones with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in 2021, and it was the first foldable phone to offer this feature. The tech giant has been offering the feature till now. It allows the brand to offer a seamless viewing experience without any obstructions while also giving people a way to take images, record videos, or make video calls while they are using the inner display.
Apple, too, is planning to offer a similar functionality and experience with the first foldable iPhone. On the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the portion of the display that has a camera under it has fewer pixels, offering lower picture quality than the rest of the display. The under-display camera also offers inferior picture quality than the traditional camera on the outside. We expect this to be the case on Apple's device, too.
Looking for a book-style foldable phone? You can't get anything better than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
