Galaxy S25 Edge has a camera feature the other S25 models don’t

Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge will soon begin to roll off the assembly line as we get closer to its official release date. Those who purchase the phone will find a camera feature that is, at the time of writing, exclusive to the thinnest Galaxy S25 model.

The Galaxy S25 Edge can record videos in the log format with both the front and rear cameras. The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra only support log recording with the rear cameras. The same is true for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra, the only other devices that currently support log video recording.

A video recorded in a log profile preserves more detail and provides a wider dynamic range that can be manipulated in post production to achieve a specific style or tone. Without editing, log videos have a dull and washed out look, though Samsung offers an option in the Gallery app to automatically correct colors if you're not interested in editing it yourself.

Is this Samsung's way of making up for equipping the Galaxy S25 Edge with fewer cameras? Not really. It's probably just a case of Samsung running out of time to implement log recording for the front camera in time for the launch of the original three Galaxy S25 models and deciding to address that with the fourth model in the lineup.

Samsung will likely bring front camera log recording to the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra with a software update. If not with a regular software update, the function will definitely arrive with the One UI 8.0 (Android 16) upgrade, as it is available on early One UI 8 firmware builds that we tested on the Galaxy S25 and a few other smartphones.
