Google app preps for Search’s AI Mode with a new selection of shortcuts (Updated)
The shortcut buttons could also get a minor UI change.

Update: March 5, 2025 (08:25 AM ET): Google has updated the shortcuts in the latest Google app release (version 16.8.31). The duplicate Voice Search and Lens shortcuts in the Search bar have now been replaced with a shortcut for Search’s upcoming AI Mode. This shortcut will remain available in the floating Search bar when you scroll through the Google app home page.
Original article: February 17, 2025 (22:02 PM ET): The Google app could soon get a minor UI change in preparation for the upcoming AI Mode for Google Search. Google appears to be working on offering users a different selection of shortcuts under the Search bar, which includes one for the conversational search experience.
