Gemini has been the center of Google's attention since last year. Even though it replaced Google Assistant last year, it didn't have all the features of its predecessor, including direct Google Home integration. Now, Google has widely started rolling out the Google Home extension for Gemini.
More Galaxy users can now use Gemini's Google Home extension
Last month, Google said it had started rolling out the Google Home extension for Gemini. However, the feature was only available to a few users back then. Now, the company seems to have released the feature more widely. We can now see the Google Home extension in the Gemini app on our Galaxy smartphones.
You can turn on the Google Home extension by opening the Gemini app on your Galaxy smartphone or tablet, navigating to Settings » Extensions, and turning on the Google Home toggle.
You could use Gemini to control your Google Home-compatible smartphone home devices earlier, but the process was slow because it connected to Google Assistant to complete the task. Now that the Google Home extension is natively available for Gemini, Google's new AI assistant can process commands faster.
Another change we noticed is that you can use the side button on the Galaxy S25 to give voice commands for smart home controls. Earlier, you had to open the Gemini app and then give voice commands, or the commands wouldn't work.
You can see how accessing Gemini is easier on the Galaxy S25 in our video below.
With One UI 7.0 and the Galaxy S25, Samsung has integrated Gemini deep into its stock apps, including Samsung Clock, Samsung Notes, and Samsung Reminder.
If you ask Gemini to create an alarm or start a time, it uses the Samsung Clock app. If you ask Gemini for some information and save it in a note, it saves that information in Samsung Notes. If you ask Gemini to remind you about something, it creates a reminder in the Samsung Reminder app.
