My Files on One UI 8 lets you sort downloads by app

My Files is Samsung's native file manager app on Galaxy devices, it's the company's alternative to the Files by Google file manager. Many of Samsung's native apps have received improvements with the One UI 8 beta that was just launched.

Samsung's file manager app is one of them. It's received a minor feature, but one that's very useful, as it makes it extremely easy to sort downloads based on the app they came from.

My Files simplifies sorting through downloads by app

If you tend to have a lot of files downloaded on your device, it can often be a cumbersome task to sort through them all to find the one that you're looking for. It would be so much easier if you could just tap on the relevant app's name and have My Files show you all of the files that have been downloaded through that app.

That's precisely what you'll be able to do in My Files on One UI 8. It displays app names in a row on the top, and tapping on an app name will then show only those files that were downloaded by that app. For example, you can tap on Gmail to find downloads that were initiated from the email app.

This will prove to be a very useful feature in situations when you don't remember the name of a file or when you downloaded it, only the name of the app you used.

The One UI 8 beta is currently being rolled out for the Galaxy S25 series only, but it will be released for other eligible devices in the near future.
