One UI 7 Live Notification has an interesting YouTube sync feature

Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 for Galaxy phones brings many new features. One of the most popular ones is Live Notifications. As the name suggests, it shows the status of ongoing activities, such as music playback, sports score, timer, stopwatch, and other such things, in the status bar, notification panel, and quick settings panel.

This feature isn't part of Android 15, and the South Korean tech giant is offering it from its end, and only a few (mainly first-party) apps support it at the moment. Well, it looks like Google has just added support for One UI 7’s Live Notifications to the YouTube app for Android to show playback controls for videos playing on YouTube on other devices, such as your television.

One UI 7 now shows Live Notification for controlling playback of YouTube videos on other devices

According to SammyGuru, after updating their Galaxy Z Fold SE with the stable version of Android 15-based One UI 7.0, the phone started showing a Live Notification to control the playback of videos running on YouTube on other devices in the same house, such as their TV.

The publication points out that this feature worked even when they weren’t using Cast. That means it is different from the feature on previous versions of Android and One UI, where, when you cast a video from your phone to your TV or other devices, the phone shows playback controls for those videos in the notification panel and on the lock screen.

The new feature makes it easier to control the playback of videos running on YouTube on other devices. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find that feature in the stable version of Android 15-based One UI 7.0 on our Galaxy S25 or in the beta version of Android 15-based One UI 7.0 on our Galaxy S23, even with the latest version of the YouTube app.

So it looks like YouTube offers this feature in the stable version of Android 15-based One UI 7.0 on older devices. With Samsung rolling it out to more devices starting today, we should see playback controls of YouTube videos running on other devices as Live Notifications on more Galaxy smartphones and tablets soon.
