One of the features Android 15 brought was ‘predictive back‘. In a window, when you start swiping from the right to the left edge of the screen to go back, this feature pulls the current window to the right and shows the previous window on the left (in the background) before you complete the gesture to give you a preview of what the previous screen contains.
Unfortunately, Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 offered the predictive back feature only in Google applications, and not in the stock apps. Well, that is finally changing with the brand’s Android 16-based One UI 8.0, which leaked earlier this month, and the brand officially released it in beta to the Galaxy S25 series yesterday. Let’s take a look.
Galaxy S25 with One UI 8 beta offers predictive back in Samsung's stock apps
Folks at Android Authority have discovered that on the Galaxy S25 with One UI 8 beta, predictive back works in some of Samsung’s stock apps as well, including Calculator, Clock, Contacts, Settings, Voice Recorder, and Weather. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work in some of the other stock apps, including Calendar and Reminders. The publication points out that this feature works by default. However, for it to work, Good Lock’s One Hand Operation+ module must be disabled.

Android 15 offers the predictive back toggle in Developer Options. However, One UI 7 didn’t offer the option in that section. Strangely, when you searched for it, the feature popped up, and when you tapped on it, nothing happened, as if it were disabled. That’s not the case with Samsung's new software. One UI 8 offers the predictive back option in the Developer Section and is functional. That being said, you don’t have to activate the toggle to use the feature.
