One UI 8 leak confirms Galaxy Z Flip 7’s bigger cover screen

Samsung is expected to launch its next-generation foldable phones in July. While all eyes are set on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to see if it will truly be the world's thinnest foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could surprise people with its upgraded cover screen, which is now confirmed by One UI 8.0.

One UI 8.0 firmware files have been leaked for several Galaxy phones, and we installed the new software on our Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Through the same leaked firmware files, folks over at Android Authority managed to extract relevant files that confirm the design of the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Animation files within the leaked firmware show an edge-to-edge cover screen that spans across the phone's dual-camera setup, just like the Motorola RAZR 60 Ultra.

Previous reports claimed that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will have a 4-inch OLED cover screen. And the animation file confirms that earlier leaks about the phone were indeed accurate.

And that is not the only upgrade Samsung is bringing to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The phone will also feature a larger (6.85-inch) main screen with thinner (1.2mm) bezels, a bigger (4,300mAh) battery, and a faster processor (Snapdragon 8 Elite For Galaxy). It will likely bring new Galaxy AI and other software features. Its foldable display crease might be almost invisible.

As we exclusively reported a couple of months ago, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the first phones to run One UI 8.0 out of the box. It will likely get the same 7-year Android OS update promise as its predecessor. It isn't clear if it will get an upgrade to a 12MP selfie camera like the Galaxy S25 series.
