OnePlus Watch 3 price hike makes Galaxy Watch Ultra a better option

In July 2024, Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch Ultra, its current flagship smartwatch. To date, it remains arguably the best overall Wear OS device. In February 2025, OnePlus launched the OnePlus Watch 3, its latest flagship smartwatch. While it was no match for the one from Samsung, it also came with a much lower price tag. Well, that’s no more the case as the OnePlus Watch 3 now costs more than the Galaxy Watch Ultra in the US.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch Ultra at $649. However, nowadays, its price keeps hovering around $350. Right now, it is going for $378 on Amazon. On the other hand, OnePlus launched the OnePlus Watch 3 at $329. After a delay, the brand has finally made it available to purchase in the United States. However, instead of offering it at $329, OnePlus is selling it at $499. That’s fifty-two percent higher than the launch price.

OnePlus neither issued a press release about the price hike nor provided a reason why it has increased the price. We think the brand didn’t announce the change because people would criticise it and the price hike is a direct result of the ongoing US-China trade war where the US President, Donald Trump, has levied high tariffs on the goods imported from China (OnePlus is manufacturing the watch in China and importing it to the US).

While there’s no information about where Samsung is manufacturing the Galaxy Watch Ultra, we assume that it is getting the smartwatch made in Brazil, as we had reported earlier. As such, its smartwatch imports in the US don't attract as much tariffs as OnePlus’ do. That is enabling the brand to offer the smartwatch at the price it is.

Whatever the case, the OnePlus Watch 3 now costs more than the Galaxy Watch Ultra despite offering fewer features. At this point, it makes no sense to get the OnePlus Watch 3 over Galaxy Watch Ultra unless you are a die-hard OnePlus fan.
