Samsung has so far maintained that Galaxy AI features will be available for free until 2025, leaving the door open to the possibility of charging for the AI features. While the company hasn't detailed those plans yet, a new rumor claims we may see concrete information about Galaxy AI pricing by the third quarter of this year.
With less than six months to go before the end of this year, it's understandable that there should be more clarity into whatever pricing policy Samsung intends to enforce for the Galaxy AI suite before the end of this year.
Only some features may be put behind a paywall
Confusion still exists as to whether Samsung will ultimately go ahead and make Galaxy AI features pay-to-play. A recent report had claimed that the company didn't intend to move in this direction and that Galaxy AI features would be free permanently.
Citing industry analysts, Korean media is now reporting that Samsung will detail its pricing policy for Galaxy AI by Q3 2025. It may not put all AI features behind a paywall. Only advanced Galaxy AI features, such as AI video, that require a lot of computing power would be charged. Even the likes of Honor and Google are charging for AI video generation.
Perhaps Samsung might provide some detail about the features that may become pay-to-play during its Unpacked event next month, where it may also highlight new Galaxy AI features that will be available on the upcoming foldables.
Samsung hasn't confirmed anything officially about charging for Galaxy AI features just yet, though, with a company official saying “Nothing has been decided yet,” with regard to moving in this direction.
