Samsung announces One UI 8 beta program

Just as we exclusively reported earlier this month, Samsung has announced the One UI 8 Beta Program. It is open for select Galaxy phones that we have listed in the article below, and the first beta update was released a few minutes ago. The company has announced that the update, based on Android 16, will first come in stable form for its next foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Samsung is trying to make up for the delays it caused with the One UI 7 update by releasing One UI 8 much earlier.

One UI 8 (Android 16) Beta Program has been announced for Samsung phones

The One UI 8 Beta Program has been announced for select countries, including Germany, South Korea, the UK, and the USA. The Android 16-based update will be initially released to the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It could be released to more devices in the future, but Samsung hasn't confirmed it yet.

If you live in one of the countries mentioned above and want to beta-test the new version of One UI on your eligible device, you have to follow the steps mentioned below.

  1. Install the Samsung Members app from the Galaxy Store and open it.
  2. Sign into the app using the same Samsung account you used in your phone.
  3. Tap on the One UI 8 Beta Program banner that appears on the top of the home screen and enroll your device.
  4. Once your phone is enrolled in the beta program, go to Settings » Software update » Download and install.
  5. If the beta update has been released already, it will be downloaded.
  6. Once the update is downloaded, hit the Install Now button, and the phone will restart after a few minutes.

It would be wise if you follow the steps we mentioned in this article to go through the update process without any issues.

Samsung will release the stable One UI 8 update after it is done beta-testing it and releasing at 4-6 beta updates to eligible devices. All the eligible Galaxy phones and tablets will get the stable update before the end of this year.
