Roughly three months have passed since Samsung released the Galaxy A56 globally, and we haven't forgotten that the phone is not yet available in the USA. We are keeping an eye on the matter, and we can now confirm that some progress toward a US release has been made.
Once again, Samsung is taking its time to bring the best mid-range Galaxy phone to customers in the USA, presumably because it offers such excellent value for money that it has the potential to hurt Galaxy S24 FE sales. Fortunately, despite this apparent delay, we found more evidence suggesting that the Galaxy A56 remains on track for a 2025 USA launch.
As you might recall, a few months ago, we worried that the Galaxy A56 wouldn't come to the USA because we couldn't spot any evidence of firmware development for a US version. Our worries were put to rest when Samsung officially stated that the Galaxy A56 is actually planned to go on sale stateside, except it will arrive “later this year.”
We haven't heard much from Samsung since, and the Galaxy A56 is still not available in the USA, even though the Galaxy A36 is. But despite this slow development, we do have a bit of good news for prospective Galaxy A56 buyers in the USA waiting for their chance to acquire this mid-range hero phone.
Today, we can confirm that Samsung is in the process of developing Galaxy A56 firmware for the US version — SM-A566U1. In fact, Samsung's been working on it for a minute now.
Once again, this information doesn't give us a precise release date, but it does mean that Samsung hasn't forgotten its promise. As far as we can tell, firmware development started a while back and hasn't stopped. The Galaxy A56's USA launch is drawing nearer.
Three months ago, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy A56 would hit the US market for $499. Whether or not that has changed remains to be determined.
We will continue to monitor Samsung's progress on the matter and let you know as soon as we find out more. Hopefully, the Galaxy A56 will arrive in the USA sooner rather than later.
