As we detailed last week, Samsung's Bespoke Jet stick vacuums have plenty of settings and options you can access through the SmartThings app on the connected phone or tablet. However, the SmartThings platform doesn't provide access to every feature.
One setting you won't find in SmartThings is a somewhat hidden Energy Saving mode. It can only be enabled by physically interacting with the vacuum cleaner under specific conditions.
First things first, what exactly does the Energy Saving mode do for Samsung Bespoke Jet stick vacuums? Samsung doesn't provide a detailed explanation about how Energy Saving works precisely, but from what we can tell, it puts the vacuum in a deeper sleep mode that consumes less energy. Here are a few facts about how it behaves:
- You can only turn Energy Saving mode on when the vacuum is placed on the Clean Station. Therefore, this feature is available only for Bespoke vacuum cleaners that ship with a Clean Station.
- The Energy Saving mode turns off automatically when you start the vacuum.
- Energy Saving mode has no effect on how the vacuum's battery recharges.
- Turning Energy Saving mode on will not turn off the battery status light. You can manage the light through the SmartThings app when the vacuum is not in Energy Saving mode.
- When the Energy Saving mode is enabled, your vacuum shows up as disconnected from your SmartThings network.
- Some options will be grayed out in SmartThings, however, you will still have access to remotely emptying the dustbin even in Energy Saving mode. Performing this action will turn Energy Saving mode off, and the vacuum will reconnect.

Lastly, if you want to turn Energy Saving mode on, you need to place the Bespoke Jet stick vacuum on the All-in-One Clean Station and press and hold the plus button on the vacuum for five seconds.
Once the mode is turned on, you will see the Energy Saving On message on the LCD. Once again, the mode turns off automatically when you remove the vacuum from its Clean Station and start using it. However, you can turn the mode off manually while on the Clean Station by repeating the same step, i.e., pressing and holding the plus button for five seconds.
