It's known that One UI 8 is already being tested internally at Samsung. We've also tested One UI 8 on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and other devices. The update is going to arrive much earlier than you'd expect, likely by July or August this year.
There's going to be a One UI 8 beta program as well, like there always is for a major Samsung firmware update. A new report indicates that Samsung may launch the One UI 8 beta as early as next month.
One UI 8 beta could begin in June
@tarunvats33 on X points out that the One UI 8 beta may be launched by June. This wouldn't be surprising given the public launch time frame for the update, as Samsung would need to run the beta program for a couple of months just to make sure all bugs are ironed out.
Samsung hasn't officially said anything about the One UI 8 beta program, and that's to be expected. It's unlikely to reveal information about its launch in advance. We'll likely get official word just a few days before the program goes live.
One UI 8 will bring Android 16 to eligible devices but it may not bring much else in the way of major changes. What we've found based on the builds we've tested so far, this is basically just One UI 7.1 masquerading as One UI 8.
Samsung needs the early launch to get its update cycle back on track given how long it has taken to release One UI 7. There's no time left to do a separate One UI 7.1 release so whatever minor improvements are to be made, they will be packaged as One UI 8, set to release in the not too distant future.
