Samsung moves ahead with another Fan Edition phone

The Galaxy S20 FE 5G was hugely successful. Since its launch, Samsung has released a Fan Edition smartphone every year, except for 2021. This year, the company also appears ready to launch a new Fan Edition device, the Galaxy S25 FE.

We have discovered that Samsung has started the firmware (software) development for the Galaxy S25 FE. The firmware development has started for the US unlocked variant of the phone, which features model number SM-S731U and has firmware version S731USQU0AYDH.

The phone will likely run Android 16 and One UI 8.0 out of the box and get seven major Android OS updates. The phone's first details leaked seven months ago, when it was revealed that the Galaxy S25 FE will have a thinner design, featuring a wider but thinner battery. The battery capacity could remain the same as its predecessor.

Then, a wild rumor claimed it could use a MediaTek Dimensity processor. However, it was recently revealed that it will use the same Exynos 2400e chip used in the Galaxy S24 FE. Samsung will likely equip it with 8GB or 12GB RAM and at least 256GB storage.

Samsung could bring a selfie camera upgrade with the Galaxy S25 FE. Just like the Galaxy A56, it could have a 12MP selfie camera. It could have the same 50MP+12MP+8MP triple-camera setup on the rear. It could have 25W or 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.

It could also feature stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint reader, and an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, similar to the Galaxy S24 FE.
