It's been a few months since Samsung confirmed its Apple Vision Pro XR headset rival, codenamed Project Moohan. The company also showed off the headset during the Unpacked event for the Galaxy S25 series back in January.
Samsung hasn't exactly confirmed precisely when its first XR headset is going to be released, but it's mentioned a release for later this year on multiple occasions. It reiterated the 2025 release for Project Moohan while showing off the headset at its MWC 2025 booth in Barcelona this week.
Project Moohan headset coming later this year
The Project Moohan headset is on display at the company's Mobile World Congress 2025 booth in Barcelona, Spain. It has further confirmed that the XR headset is going to be launched later this year, however, no precise timeline has been provided.
Details about the handset's specs are slim, but several reports have highlighted that the headset has two OLED-based micro displays with an impressively high refresh rate. It's also powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, features eight front cameras at the very least and also has two eye-tracking cameras.
Samsung has also worked closely with Google on the software for this headset. It's the first headset to run Android XR, a new iteration of Android that's built from the ground up for devices like XR headsets and smart glasses. It also comes with an advanced version of Google's Gemini multimodal AI assistant.
The company hasn't confirmed at this point in time how much the Project Moohan headset is going to cost, or what its actual name is going to be. We may have to wait for several months for these crucial bits of information to arrive.
