Samsung’s best vacuum gets air blower support via firmware update

Samsung is rolling out a new firmware update for its stick vacuum cleaners, or at least its most powerful model, the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra. Surprisingly, it's not just a simple maintenance update. The changelog is short, but its contents are big, figuratively speaking. It hints at a massive upcoming feature: an Air Blower mode.

As powerful as the Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra vacuum is, it didn't launch with air blower capabilities. The vacuum cleaner can suck air in with a very high efficiency but can't blow air out. In other words, despite the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra's 400 AW power, it can't be used as a leaf blower. However, judging by this new firmware update, that's about to change.

For the moment, we're unsure if the update is available only for the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra or if it reached other models, such as the Bespoke AI Jet Lite. You can try grabbing the new update via the SmartThings app. The official changelog mentions two features.

While those notifications are a nice quality-of-life feature, what really caught our eye was the first entry in the changelog, i.e., “Air Blower is supported.”

But here's the thing. Following this update, we couldn't put our vacuum in an Air Blower mode with any of the accessories we possess, and we have plenty of them in our proverbial tool belt.

Exactly how all this works isn't clear, and Samsung has yet to add Air Blower instructions to its Bespoke AI Jet vacuum cleaner user manuals.

We're guessing that the Air Blower mode may require a special Bespoke AI Jet accessory that Samsung hasn't released yet. This firmware update may precede the accessory's release, but we must wait to see. We'll let you know as soon as we find out more.
