Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will be fairly lightweight

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is all but officially confirmed at this point. Granted, nothing is official until it is, but the high number of leaks almost guarantees that Samsung will release its first Fan Edition foldable this year. And given all this recent talk about lightweight and ultra-thin phones, you might be glad to know we just found out how much the Fan Edition foldable weighs.

The upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE tips the scale at 187 grams, so the phone is on the lighter side. It's not as light as the ultra-slim Galaxy S25 Edge but has a lower weight than the S25+.

If you're very familiar with Samsung's previous Z Flip phones, you may have already figured out that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE weighs the same as the previous models. Can this tell us anything about the Flip 7 FE's design? Not necessarily. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Flip 6 weigh 187 grams, but so does the Galaxy Z Flip 4 with its small cover screen.

Nevertheless, previous leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE may have lots in common with the ongoing Galaxy Z Flip 6. The Fan Edition phone might look the same or nearly identical to the 2024 Flip phone.

It wouldn't be the first time Samsung rebranded an older device as a Fan Edition product. Last year, Samsung released the Galaxy Watch FE, which is essentially a rebranded 40mm Galaxy Watch 4 with a slightly different paint job.

Likewise, one previous rumor said Samsung might give the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE a new coat of paint, possibly even a CoralRed color like the one the Galaxy S25 has. However, nothing of the sort has been confirmed or leaked yet.

Samsung may unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE this summer at the same Unpacked event where the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the non-FE Galaxy Z Flip 7 will make their debut.

Many foldable phone fans are looking forward to the Fan Edition device. Although Samsung expanded its foldable phone lineup with the pricier Fold Special Edition last year, it never went the other way around to release a more affordable foldable model. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will be the first and arguably has the potential to create a ripple effect across the foldable phone segment.
