Samsung has a tri-fold phone in the pipeline and some rumors have suggested that it may be launched by the end of this year. There are only limited details available about the device at this point in time, but some information has surfaced over the past few months.
The latest nugget of information has been extracted by the device's 3C certification in China. The listing has revealed that this phone will likely have a wired fast charging speed of 25W, which is hardly impressive.
Don't hold your breath for significantly faster charging
Samsung China has received 3C certification for model number SM-F9680, which is the China variant of the device. The SM-F968 model number has already been associated with the tri-fold phone. The compatible charger for this device, EP-TA800, has also been certified. This charger has already been available from Samsung for some time now and it maxes out at 25W.
Samsung's foldable phones so far have supported fast charging at a maximum rate of 25W only. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is likely not going to raise the bar, either. So it's entirely within the realm of possibility that Samsung's first tri-fold phone won't support faster charging speeds, even though Samsung's mid-range phones like the Galaxy A56 now support 45W wired charging.
The tri-fold phone will draw comparisons with the Mate XT Ultimate, the tri-fold phone from Huawei that's already on the market. It supports 66W fasamsung-tri-fold-teaser-unpackedst charging, so as far as the numbers on the spec sheet are concerned, the Samsung device will appear to be behind its Huawei rival.
