T-Mobile's Starlink beta went live in the United States a few months ago, enabling users to send and receive text messages via satellite connection for free. A wide variety of phones were compatible with the service, including many Samsung Galaxy phones.
However, a T-Mobile customer support representative shared incorrect information regarding the Galaxy S23 being dropped from the list of eligible devices. The carrier has now confirmed that this isn't the case, and that the Galaxy S23 continues to be supported for the Starlink beta.
T-Mobile hasn't made any significant trims to the list of eligible phones
A Galaxy S23 owner on T-Mobile contacted the carrier's customer support regarding compatibility and was told that the list has been reduced, with the Galaxy S23 being no longer supported. T-Mobile had previously confirmed that all Galaxy S21 and above phones were compatible. A Galaxy S21 Ultra was even used to test the service before it was launched.
T-Mobile has confirmed to PhoneArena that the customer support representative was mistaken, and that the Galaxy S23 continues to be supported. The current list of Galaxy phones eligible for the T-Mobile Starlink beta include the Galaxy S21 series and up, the Galaxy Z Flip 3/ZFold 3 and later foldables, the Galaxy A36, and the X Cover 7 Pro.
So Galaxy S23 owners should rest assured that they will have the ability to send and receive text messages, participate in group chats and even react to messages over satellite. T-Mobile recently opened up this service to everyone, even those not on its network, so it wouldn't make sense for the carrier to trim the list of eligible devices soon after that.
