Once Samsung finishes rolling out the One UI 7 (Android 15) update, it will move on to One UI 8. One UI 8, based on Android 16, is the next major OS upgrade for many Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
As with previous versions, Samsung is offering a beta program for select Galaxy devices in select regions, allowing users to try out new features and improvements ahead of the stable release. But which devices does the beta program support?
The beta program starts with the Galaxy S25 series
Samsung has been developing One UI 8 for a long time, and we have tested early firmware on devices like the Galaxy S25, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. However, that does not mean all of these devices will get the One UI 8 beta.
The One UI 8 beta program went live on May 28, and for now, only the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are supported. The Galaxy S25 Edge is not part of the beta program.
Samsung could bring older devices into the fold eventually. But since the One UI 7 beta program was limited to the Galaxy S24 series for many months before it expanded to other devices, we can assume that only the Galaxy S25 series will be supported in the One UI 8 beta program for the first couple of months.
In fact, Samsung may not have the time to release the beta for more devices, as it plans to roll out the official One UI 8 update soon after the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, or by September or October this year. The list of One UI 8 features is also a short one, so Samsung doesn't need extensive beta testing to make sure it works without issues.
