One of the many ways the Galaxy A series differs from premium Galaxy S phones and Samsung foldables is the limited use of AI. The Galaxy A56 and A36 have what Samsung calls Awesome Intelligence, while more premium phones enjoy the suite of more powerful Galaxy AI tools.
Today, Samsung announced that it will soon narrow the gap between many of its Galaxy A phones released in 2023-2025 and the Galaxy S series through Google's latest virtual assistant, Gemini. Sometime within the next few weeks, nearly a dozen Galaxy A phones will gain easy access to Gemini.
Samsung will release a new software update globally for select Galaxy A phones, starting in early May. This upcoming update will allow users to assign Gemini to the side button via the Settings app.
One UI 7 might be coming very soon to Galaxy A phones
According to Samsung's fine print, Gemini integration will be added through a software update to the following models:
- Galaxy A56, Galaxy A55, and Galaxy A54.
- Galaxy A36, Galaxy A35, and Galaxy A34.
- Galaxy A26, Galaxy A25, Galaxy A25e, and Galaxy A24.

Interestingly enough, Samsung says that One UI 7 is required for this Gemini integration, which implies that all of the Galaxy A listed above should receive One UI 7 globally soon.
Nevertheless, the fine print also says that the release schedule is subject to change. Samsung's previous release timeline for One UI 7 placed several of the aforementioned Galaxy A phones in the June launch timeslot.
Following the update, Galaxy A users will have instant access to Google's powerful Gemini AI through a long press of the side key. Users will be able to ask Gemini questions about virtually everything, use the assistant to find dinner spots on Google Maps, check and share schedules with their contacts, and more.
