Chrome finally gets a feature Samsung Internet has had for ages

Android device screens have only become larger over the past few years yet Google, which is behind both Android and Chrome, kept a pretty useful feature from its web browser. It didn't allow users to place the address bar at the bottom even while most third-party web browsers offered the ability to do so.

The Samsung Internet browser has also had this feature for ages. Google began testing the bottom-mounted address bar option in April this year and has finally made it available in the stable version of Chrome for Android.

It may take a couple of days for this feature to be available for everyone

It's great to see that this feature is finally available on the most popular web browser for Android devices. Users will no longer have to perform finger gymnastics on large-screen devices, and it's particularly useful to have the address bar at the bottom during one-handed use.

If you want to move it to the bottom, just long-press on the address bar and tap on the “Move address bar to bottom” option. The option is also available through the app's Settings menu. The feature is only just rolling out so it may not be immediately available in Chrome on your device. Best to give it a few days for Google to complete the rollout.

It's long been possible to reposition the address bar at the bottom on Samsung Internet. You do need to do that manually, though. Head to the Settings menu in Samsung Internet tap on Layout and menus to toggle Show address bar at bottom on.
