Last week, Samsung released a software update to the Galaxy A16 that offered the much-awaited Android 15-based One UI 7.0, which brought a redesigned UI, new features, and smoother animations. However, the brand had made it available only for the 4G/LTE version of the phone (SM-A165), and not to the 5G version of the device (SM-A166). Well, there’s some good news.
Samsung has released a software update to the Galaxy A16 5G (SM-A166P) that offers Android 15-based One UI 7.0 (via Tarun Vats). For now, the brand has made the update available in India. It is 2922.03MB in size and carries firmware version A166PXXU4BYE6. It also brings the April 2025 security patch to the device. To get it, go to Settings » Software update » Download and install.

Galaxy A16 5G One UI 7.0 features
As for the changes One UI 7.0 offers, the first thing you will notice is the new user interface. It includes new UI elements in many places, new icons, a split view for notifications and quick settings toggles, and in many apps, you will find redesigned UI.
Another highlight is Live Notifications. It lets you keep a tab on ongoing activities, such as sports scores, from anywhere across the UI. There’s also Now Bar, which lets you keep an eye on these ongoing activities from the lock screen.
