Galaxy S25 Edge boasts a reengineered, thinner 200MP camera

The Galaxy S25 Edge is an extremely thin phone. But despite its thin and lightweight design, it still boasts good camera hardware. Its primary rear and front cameras are the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. But to achieve that, Samsung had to do some clever engineering.

Samsung explained to use how it managed to fit a 200MP camera in the Galaxy S25 Edge's ultra-slim body.

Galaxy S25 Edge has same 200MP camera sensor as Galaxy S25 Ultra

The Galaxy S25 Edge has a 200MP primary rear-facing camera with OIS, Super QPD autofocus, and an F1.7 aperture. Samsung confirmed to us that it is the same physical sensor that is used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the company designed a new lens for it and set up the camera in a new way to make the entire camera unit 18% slimmer than earlier.

So, performance wise, the Galaxy S25 Edge should perform the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, as both phones have the same camera and chipset. At least that is what Samsung claims. The primary camera also offers 2x optical quality zoom through in-sensor crop. So, despite the phone not featuring a telephoto camera, it can capture pretty good 2x zoom shots.

The phone's primary camera is joined by a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus and an F2.2 aperture. On the front, it has the same 12MP selfie camera that is used in other Galaxy S25 series phones. All three cameras on the phone can record 4K 60fps videos, while the primary camera can also record 8K 30fps videos.

The Galaxy S25 Edge can capture images and videos in 10-bit Super HDR, which is based on Google's Ultra HDR format. Moreover, the phone can also record videos in the Samsung LOG format for a flat color profile, which is preferred by professionals as it allows them to tweak colors in an easier way in the post-production stage.
