Samsung will release a new generation of foldable phones this summer at Unpacked, likely next month. As we approach the debut of the 7th-generation Galaxy Z lineup, Samsung has begun phasing out the ongoing 6th-gen models in key markets, including the USA, the UK, Europe, and India.

In other words, if you want to buy the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or the Galaxy Z Flip 6 from Samsung's e-shop right now, chances are that you can't. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is no longer in stock. You might have more luck with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in some markets, but it, too, is being slowly pushed off the online store shelves.

Both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are out of stock in the UK. You can still buy the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in India and the USA, but probably not for much longer. The Z Flip 6 is out of stock everywhere we checked.

Likewise, neither the Galaxy Z Fold 6 nor the Galaxy Z Flip 6 are available in Germany or the Netherlands at present.

Making room for a new generation

Samsung started teasing the next Unpacked event, and particularly the Galaxy Z Fold 7, last week. However, based on leaks, Samsung may break from the norm and unveil not one but two additional foldable devices at Unpacked this summer.

Surely, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will join the Z Fold 7 on the big stage, as expected. But rumors also say that Samsung intends to release its first Fan Edition Galaxy Z Flip model at Unpacked. That makes three foldable phones instead of two.

All in all, the fact that sixth-gen foldables are no longer available in key markets underlines that Unpacked is just around the corner and Samsung is almost ready to bring out the big guns.

In a way, it's not bad that Samsung has prevented prospective buyers from spending cash on devices that are about to be replaced by newer models.

And since Samsung's Certified ReNewed program doesn't include foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 may soon be gone for good. Let's hope the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are worthy sequels.
