Samsung confirmed in the beginning of last month that the Tap to Transfer feature will soon be available in Samsung Wallet for users in the United States. This feature makes sending money between friends and family as simple as tapping phones together.
The company had said that the feature would be rolled out by the end of the month. Samsung Wallet users in the US can now use the Tap to Transfer feature for seamless money transfers.
Effortless money transfers now live in Samsung Wallet
With the feature now live, Samsung Wallet users no longer have to rely on a third-party app like Venmo or Cash App to send money to someone's bank account. It can now be done using a Visa or Mastercard that's stored in Samsung Wallet.
The transfer is made over NFC so the person you're sending money to doesn't necessarily need to be using Samsung Wallet. They can still receive money if they're using a different digital wallet app. This feature also works if the other person has a non-Galaxy phone or even an iPhone. Simply tap the top of their phone to the back of the Samsung Galaxy device to transfer money.
Even those who are not using a wallet app can receive money. The sender can just tap their Samsung phone to their physical debit card that supports tap-to-pay, a feature that's available on virtually all debit cards now.
Transfers can also be made to people who aren't nearby, as money can be sent directly to their Samsung Wallet by searching their phone number in the app.
