These are Samsung’s best-selling Galaxy phones in 2025 so far

For the first time in several quarters, a Samsung Ultra phone has rejoined the list of the world's top 10 best-selling smartphones. According to market data shared by Counterpoint Research, the Galaxy S25 Ultra was the seventh best-selling phone globally in Q1 2025.

Meanwhile, in March 2025, the Galaxy S25 Ultra performed even better. It was the fourth bestseller across Europe. Other Samsung phones besides the Galaxy S25 Ultra have also joined these top 10 lists, but in Europe, no other Android device beat Samsung's king slab-type phone in March.

Let's now have a closer look at global smartphone sales in Q1 2025. Samsung occupied the following spots with these phones.

Samsung was outperformed mostly by Apple, but Xiaomi's Redmi 14C 4G also managed to outmatch one of Samsung's mid-range hero devices, i.e., the Galaxy A55, and even the iPhone 16 Plus.

The last time Samsung had an Ultra phone in the top 10 global rankings was in Q2 2024, when the Galaxy S24 Ultra became the ninth highest-selling phone for the quarter.

However, this isn't necessarily as positive as it may seem at a glance. First, it's only natural for Samsung's Ultra phones to drop out of the ranking the further they get from their early yearly debut. But when the Galaxy S24 Ultra first entered the global top 10 list in Q1 2024, it did so in fifth place rather than seventh. In a manner of speaking, the Galaxy S24 Ultra performed better in Q1 2024 than the S25 Ultra did in Q1 2025.

As for Europe's bestsellers in March, Samsung captured five places, from fourth to eighth. This time, the Galaxy S25 Ultra was Samsung's top performer.

Interestingly, in Europe, Samsung's low, mid, and high-end phones alike beat the iPhone 16e and iPhone 15. Market watchers blame the lower iPhone 16e sales in Europe, compared to previous iPhone SE devices, on the 16e's higher price.

At €699, the iPhone 16e is much more expensive than its SE predecessors, which started at €479 (2020) and €519 (2022).

Keep in mind that these market analyses are not always perfectly accurate, and different trackers can post different results. Nevertheless, within a reasonable margin of error, it's safe to say that Samsung and Apple continue to lead the global and European smartphone markets.
