Behind the curtain, Samsung is tinkering with the upcoming One UI 8 update, which should debut this summer with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Internal One UI 8 test builds have surfaced for the past month, and now, Samsung is working on a new version.
We took this latest One UI 8 internal test build for a spin on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It's not going to knock anyone's socks off, but we've detailed the few changes that exist in a new One UI 8 hands-on YouTube video. You can watch it below. You can also get a glimpse of the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Aside from the usual bugs — remember, this is an internal test build of One UI 8 — we only noticed a few minor differences. A few are related to the Now Brief feature. Perhaps the most striking change is that Samsung has removed the read out loud option from Now Brief with this latest One UI 8 test build. The company might bring it back at a later date.
One interesting addition to the latest One UI 8 build is Now Bar-related. In this One UI 8 version, the Now Bar works with the Phone app and shows ongoing phone calls. This addition confirms that Samsung is working on expanding the capabilities of the Now Bar to support more apps in One UI 8.

The latest One UI 8 build also seems to refine some animations, particularly those that trigger when opening notifications. Samsung's new update does seem like an evolution and refinement of One UI 7, so it makes sense that a few extra animations will be slipped in and be a part of the One UI 8 experience.
Are these new animations worth it? You can be the judge of that. Watch our One UI 8 hands-on video below and stay tuned as we continue to explore the development of Samsung's upcoming big update.
On a final note, we should mention again that the Log video recording option for the selfie camera is not a brand-new addition to this One UI 8 build. It is a part of One UI 8, and you won't find the option in One UI 7, but it was present in previous One uI 8 iterations.
