Garmin is stepping beyond smartwatches with its first sleep-only tracker, the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor. This lightweight armband is built to be worn overnight and offers up to seven nights of battery life. It’s a no-screen, no-buttons device focused entirely on improving your sleep.
The Index Sleep Monitor may look minimal, but it’s packed with useful sensors. It tracks detailed sleep stages, heart rate variability, and breathing patterns, and gives you a nightly sleep score. It also measures skin temperature, stress levels, and blood oxygen saturation using a built-in Pulse Ox sensor.
At the core is a small, square module about the size of an Apple AirTag that slots into a washable fabric armband. Garmin offers two sizes, XS-S and M-XL, to ensure a proper fit.
Garmin also included features for women’s health, using skin temperature to help with period prediction and ovulation tracking. There’s also a smart wake alarm that vibrates gently during your lightest sleep stage within a selected window, so you wake up feeling more refreshed.
All of the data is uploaded to the Garmin Connect app, where it syncs with any other health data from your Garmin ecosystem. The Garmin Index Sleep Monitor is priced at $169.99 and is already available to order from Garmin’s website. Shipping is expected within 3 to 5 weeks.
