Honor and Vivo could spoil Galaxy Z Fold 7 launch party

Earlier today, Samsung teased the Galaxy Z Fold 7 for the first time and hinted at bigger screens and better hardware. Previous reports claim that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be the world's thinnest foldable phone. However, Honor and Vivo's upcoming foldable phones have surfaced, and they could be as thin as Samsung's foldable while having bigger batteries and better camera hardware.

They could spoil Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 launch party.

Honor's and Vivo's upcoming foldable phones have bigger batteries than Galaxy Z Fold 7

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to be as thin as 4.2mm (not counting the plastic spacing) when it is unfolded, likely making it the world's thinnest foldable phone when it launches next month. However, Honor's and Vivo's upcoming foldable phones could also be as thin while having bigger batteries.

The Honor Magic V5 is said to come packed with a 6,100mAh battery while being 9mm thin when folded. It is expected to feature an 8-inch foldable OLED screen, the Snapdragon 8 Elite ‘Leading Version' chip, 16GB RAM, and a 200MP telephoto camera. It also features 90W fast wired charging and 30W fast wireless charging. It runs Android 15 out of the box.

The Vivo X Fold 5 was recently leaked, revealing its main features and specifications. It is powered by a 6,000mAh battery that supports 90W fast wired charging and 30W fast wireless charging. It has an 8.03-inch foldable OLED 120Hz screen, a 6.53-inch 120Hz OLED cover screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, 16GB RAM, and 512GB storage.

Vivo's upcoming foldable phone has three 50MP rear-facing cameras—ultrawide (with autofocus for macro), primary, and telephoto (3x optical zoom with OIS) —and two 32MP selfie cameras (cover and inner). It is only slightly thicker than the iPhone 16 Pro Max (which is 8.3mm thin) when folded. So, it is likely almost as thin as the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a bigger primary camera (1/1.4-inch) but the other two phones have bigger ultrawide and telephoto cameras. The Honor Magic V and the Vivo X Fold 5 also have much bigger batteries than the Galaxy Z Fold 7's 4,400mAh battery and much faster charging.

Samsung's phone will come with Android 16 (One UI 8) onboard, though, and will get seven major Android OS updates, making it better than Honor's and Vivo's upcoming foldables in terms of software support.
