Microsoft Authenticator autofill will be discontinued on August 1, 2025. The feature, which helped users manage logins across apps and websites, is being phased out as Microsoft shifts all credential management to its Edge browser.
If you’re using Microsoft Authenticator for saved passwords or payment info, now’s the time to take action. Since June, users can no longer add or import new credentials into the app. In July, autofill stops working entirely, and stored payment info gets deleted from mobile devices. And in August, saved and unsaved passwords will vanish from the app.
Microsoft recommends migrating your passwords to Edge. If your Authenticator data is synced with your Microsoft account, you’ll be able to access it on Edge. Just make sure you’re signed in with the same account. On iOS, go to Settings > Passwords and pick Microsoft Edge as your autofill provider. On Android, it’s under Settings > System > Languages & input > Autofill service.
You’ll find all your passwords in Edge under Settings > Passwords, along with tools like Password Monitor and Defender SmartScreen for added security. But if you’d rather not use Edge, you can still export your data from Authenticator. Head to Settings > Autofill > Export Passwords to start the process, then import them to services like iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager.
One thing to note is that payment details aren’t included in the export. You’ll need to re-enter those manually. Microsoft says the passkey login feature will remain, but you’ll need to keep the Authenticator app installed for it to keep working.
