One UI 7 inspired Google’s Android 16 Quick Panel UI change

Yesterday, Samsung revealed that it has been working with Google for faster software development and that the two firms have been sharing their designs with each other. Now, it appears that Google has taken some inspiration from One UI 7 for an upcoming UI change for Android 16.

Google will offer users a choice to split notifications and quick settings or keep them merged.

With One UI 7, Samsung split Notifications and Quick Panel into two separate pages. However, such a big UI/UX change could be jarring for some users. So the company offers an option to merge Notifications and Quick Panel into one page, like earlier. Similarly, Google could bring the same option with Android 16.

On a Telegram channel called MysticLeaks, an upcoming UI change that Android 16 will bring was revealed. Google appears to be planning to split notifications and quick setting toggles into two separate pages. This change hasn't arrived yet, but will eventually come to Android 16, as leaked beta builds have pointed towards this change.

Similar to One UI 7, Google will offer two options—Separate and Combined (Classic)—in Android 16. You can see the design of Separate and Combined layouts in the screenshots below.

Google won't be the first company to bring this change. This UI was originally introduced by Apple with the iPhone X. And then, a few years later, Chinese smartphone brands introduce a similar change, and Samsung adopted it with One UI 7.0.
